Peak to Coast Scholarship Fund
Opening the trail to more teens

At Peak to Coast · Teen Expedition, we believe that big mountains, big effort, and big views have a way of changing young people for the better.
Our Corsica Teen Expedition isn’t just a trip. It’s a demanding, guided adventure where teens:
-
Hike through rugged Corsican terrain
-
Learn to move confidently in the mountains
-
Build resilience, grit, and problem-solving skills
-
Disconnect from screens and reconnect with themselves
-
Experience another culture in a small, supportive group
We want this kind of experience to be within reach for more families, not just a few.
That’s why we created the Peak to Coast Scholarship Fund.
Why a Scholarship Fund?
Some of the most motivated, hard-working teens are the ones for whom the cost of an international expedition feels impossible.
The scholarship fund exists to:
-
Remove financial barriers
-
Support teens who are ready for challenge but need help to get to the starting line
-
Make our group more diverse in background and life experience
-
Give teens a story of “I did something I didn’t think I could do” that they’ll carry for life
When you support the scholarship fund, you’re not just helping someone go on a trip.
You’re helping a young person step into a bigger version of themselves.
How Scholarships Work
Scholarships are managed by Teen Expedition LLC and are:
-
Applied directly to program costs as a tuition reduction
-
Not paid in cash to students or families
-
Not considered taxable income for recipients
Awards may cover:
-
Partial tuition support (most common)
-
Full tuition for high-need, high-potential students (when funding allows)
-
In some cases, essential gear (boots, pack, layers)
Scholarship amounts vary year to year depending on available funding.
Important note for donors:
The scholarship fund is operated by Teen Expedition LLC, which is not a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Contributions are not tax-deductible as charitable donations, but they directly and transparently support student participation.
Who Scholarships Are For
We’re looking to support teens who:
-
Are between 15–18 years old at the time of the expedition (10th-12th)
-
Are genuinely excited about the mountains and being outside
-
Are ready to work hard, carry a backpack, and push through tough days
-
Show respect, kindness, and willingness to be part of a team
-
Have financial need that would make full participation difficult without help
We welcome applications from students who:
-
Have never traveled abroad
-
Don’t come from an “outdoorsy” family
-
Are curious, nervous, and brave enough to say “yes” anyway
How Students Apply
The scholarship application includes:
-
Basic family and financial information
-
A student motivation essay (why this trip, why now)
-
A short reflection on a time they’ve worked toward a goal or overcome a challenge
-
One recommendation from a teacher, coach, or mentor
We review each application with care, looking for both need and readiness for the physical and emotional demands of the expedition.
How You Can Help
You can help open the trail to more teens by:
Making a one-time contribution to the scholarship fund
Becoming an annual sponsor at the Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum level
Partnering as a business or organization to support one or more students
Your support may:
Reduce the trip cost for a student
Provide essential gear
Cover airfare or travel logistics for a family that needs help
Transparency & Stewardship
We know trust matters.
100% of scholarship-designated funds go to student support (tuition reductions and, when needed, gear/travel assistance).
Teen Expedition LLC covers its own administrative and operating costs separately.
We protect family privacy and treat financial information as confidential.
When appropriate and with family permission, we share anonymized stories, photos, and student reflections with donors so you can see the impact of your support.
